I have been married for over twenty eight years to my wonderful wife, Pam. Yes, I do feel like I married up, as she is a constant inspiration to me. We have two boys; who have both graduated from college and are beginning their careers. Yet, life is busy and full in the Kappler household.
Having been born and raised in the Midwest, I received my architectural degree from Kansas State University in 1983. I participated in an exchange program and studied in Copenhagen, Denmark and was able to extensively travel Europe. What a wonderful experience that was. I started my own firm in 1987 and began building my architectural practice at a frantic pace. We have been fortunate to work on many projects across the country and in Japan. We specialize in residential architecture. We have done Street of Dreams homes, have been published many times and have been awarded the prestigious MAME Awards 18 times for excellence in home design. We are currently working with several leading national magazines, which continually feature our home plans.
My love for residential architecture comes from my interest in sharing dreams with people and nowhere is that better exemplified than in building a home. I am very proud to say that over the years, we have been involved with creating homes for more than twenty thousand families. I have been involved with the Master Builders Association for over 20 years, mainly with the education committee, to promote and ensure better design and construction. I have taught in the Construction Management program at Edmonds Community College and currently sit on an advisory board for Lake Washington Technical College. Most recently, I was appointed as the newest member on the Houghton Community Council. Now and then, I also still develop property and build homes. This diversification has lead to a better understanding of the demands placed on architects, builders and homeowners today.
